COACHES: USAH On-line Modules DEADLINE is Jan 31st

USA Hockey has announced accommodations to allow coaches more time to complete the on-line modules.  Specifically:

    1.  The deadline for completion of the on-line module has been extended to January 31, 2012.
    2.  Coaches who coach more than one level (PeeWee and Bantams for example) while being strongly encouraged to complete the on-module for both are now only required to complete one.  Thus the coach, who coaches a PeeWee and Bantam team, would be require to complete the PeeWee AND/OR Bantam level on-line module.
    3.  E-mails are being sent to all coaches who have not completed their on-line module as of 12/31/11, during the week of January 2, advising them of the extension.

CDC Concussion Training: Required for ALL Coaches & Parents

Click here for all the details

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton signed a new bill into law on June 8, 2011 that now requires all coaches to sideline athletes who show signs of a concussion.  Those athletes cannot return to activity until they get cleared by a state licensed MEDICAL health care provider.  Minnesota now joins 20 states with similar laws taking effect.

The law took effect September 1, 2011

This applies to all players, in all sports, under the age of 18 and applies to ALL youth sports organizations both PUBLIC and PRIVATE.

The law also requires that parents have access to information on the risks and symptoms of concussions and coaches must have training on concussions once every 3 years.

COACHES, please use the following link to take the required, free, quick, online concussion training session.  Print the completion certificate---it must be filed in your Team Book.
