COVID-19 Return to Play Resource Center

In an effort to maintain the health and safety of the players, families, spectators, coaches, staff, and officials participating in events hosted by the Stillwater Area Hockey Association (SAHA), the following best practices have been adopted with the guidance of the Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Hockey, USA Hockey, the St. Croix Valley Rec Center (SCVRC), and our various arena partners. Compliance with these guidelines is required by all to help mitigate the transmission of COVID-19.

These changes from our normal routines will help us keep our communities healthy and our kids playing the game they love.

SAHA COVID Symptom Checker

All players and coaches must fill the SAHA COVID Symptom Checker prior to stepping on the ice for all practices, scrimmages and games. Each team has a separate link to fill out the online form. Please check with your team manager or head coach to get the link to the correct symptom checker. Please take time to review the questions in the symptom checker, because if you plan to answer "YES" to any of the questions we politely ask you to stay off the ice. 

IN CASE A POSITIVE COVID-19 TEST

  • Please fill out the form at the following link, a player or coaching staff member tested positive for COVID-19. Positive COVID Case Submission. This is mandatory. 
  • If you have any questions about filling out the form please contact Peter Schuna, Association COVID Manager at either peterschuna@hotmail.com or at 612.805.3557 
  • The Association COVID Manager will inform the Minnesota Department of Health per MDH Guidelines.
  • The Association COVID Manager will consult with the head coach regarding recent team activities and which additional team members may have been considered "close contact" with the team member that tested positive.
  • The Association COVID Manager will follow MDH recommendation to determine if there was sufficient close contact exposure to warrant a pause of team activities for up to 14 days per MDH guidelines.
  • The Association COVID Manager will inform the team of possible exposure, withholding the name of the team member. 
  • Per MDH Guidelines, all positive COVID cases will stay home for a minimum of 10 days since symptoms first appeared (or from date of positive test for asymptomatic cases) and until there is no fever for at least 24 hours  without medication AND improvement of other symptoms.
  • Siblings and household members of player testing positive should also stay home for 14 days and follow the MDH Decision Tree on when to return.

NOTE:  In a case of a household member has tested positive or the player/coach was notified of a possible exposure outside of Hockey and has been instructed to stay at home, we request that you email the Association COVID Manager by emailing him at peterschuna@hotmail.com. If instructed to do so by MDH, the player/coach should however stay at home and not attend any team events for the recommended 14-day time.  They should also notify the head coach / team manager.  Under no circumstances will a player/coach be penalized for missing team activities due to following of MDH guidance.
