The paint-a-Thon is an annual event sponsored by the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches that allows low income seniors an opportunity to complete an application to request their house be painted. All paint and supplies are donated by Valspar.

Vicki and Steve Michalski organized a group of families to help a 92 year old local Stillwater resident prep and paint her entire house. Over the course of two Saturdays, the group scraped, primed and painted the entire house and stained her deck!

"We received an e-mail about the Paint-a-thon and called to see if there was any chance there was a Senior in need in Stillwater. We were told they had to turn down a Stillwater resident last year as there was no volunteer team in Stillwater. We asked if they could contact the homeowner to see if she still needed her house painted. Turns out she did, so we put the call out asking friends if they could volunteer their time to help paint!"

The following SAHA families spent a couple of Saturdays volunteering: Michalski; Cote; Whitcomb; Qauderer; Eisele; Berg; Korth; Caewood; Taverna and Dillon, and some "future" SAHA families too. Jon Whitcomb rewarded the group with a DQ Dilly Bar for all of their hard work!

About the Homeowner:
The owner, Helen, has lived in the home since 1943. The house was purchased after WWII and Helen had great stories she shared about her husband who was a two time WWII vet and that they had to wait a full year for a stove as supplies after the war were scarce.

Helen was so grateful for all the time volunteered and loves the new look of her house. We think we were the lucky ones...
