Board of Directors Nominations

SAHA Members:

The SAHA Annual Board of Directors Election is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2020 This will be a drive-thru style election in the St. Croix Valley Rec Center parking lot from 6-8pm.
 
The terms for four board positions are expiring this election cycle. Where “incumbent” is indicated, the sitting member whose term is expiring, is planning to run again this cycle. Here are the official members running for board positions. On April 1, we will post the candidates letters.
 
Officers (voting members)
  • President – incumbent Tim McGlynn
  • Secretary - Jen Brazzell and Amy Schlitgen
 
Directors (voting members)
  • Director of Girls Hockey - Matt Tuccitto
  • Director of Off-Ice Hockey Operations and Community Affairs (formerly the Inter-Association Director) - Aliya Taube and Joe Williams
 
Each person elected to one of the positions listed above will serve a two-year term from May 2020 – April, 2022. Active members of SAHA, in good standing, are eligible to run for board positions. Board members are required to attend board meetings throughout the year (the 4th Monday of each month) where recommendations, discussions and decisions are made. In addition, board members are assigned roles and responsibilities that will require time outside of board meetings to execute the board’s agenda for the year.
 
Nomination Process and Election Timeline
  • Members interested in serving on the board need to be nominated by an active SAHA member.
  • The nominator should submit the candidate’s nomination to the chairman of the Nomination Committee at least 35 days (by Monday, March 23, 2020 at 11:59pm) prior to the annual meeting.

    • Interested candidates should contact a member of the nomination committee via email with any questions or inquiries.
    • Nomination Committee: Doug Schmidt, Tom Garrity, or Bill Rhody
  • The submission period for candidate interest applications will close at 11:59pm on March 23. There are no exceptions.
  • The Nomination Committee shall nominate at least one person for each office to be filled and report its nominees at the monthly meeting, on March 23, 2020, before the annual meeting.
    • Nominations for office may also be made from the floor at the monthly meeting before the annual meeting if there are no nominations listed on the ballot.
  • March 24, 2020: Candidates announced
  • April 1, 2020: Campaign letters and applications are due to the Dan Pavel, the nomination chairperson, via email at dmpavel@yahoo.com
  • April 2, 2020: Letters will be posted on stillwaterhockey.net
    • Application Q&A’s will be posted prior to the annual meeting and election
 
April 27: Election will be held during the annual board meeting beginning at 6pm and concluding at the end of the board meeting. The board meeting is hosted at the Stillwater Family Means Building. Election results will be tallied at the end of the meeting and the winner will be announced.

by-laws on stillwaterhockey.net.
 
Additional questions about areas of responsibilities, time commitment and generally what-to-expect would be best addressed by speaking with any member of the board or, preferably, directly with the board member currently in the position you are seeking.
 
We encourage all members to attend board meetings to learn and better understand how the association is ran.
